How to Get to Figueres
If you are attending the Summer School in Figueres, there are several convenient ways to reach the city from Barcelona, whether by car or public transport:
By Car
Figueres is located approximately 140 km (87 miles) north of Barcelona. The fastest and most direct route is via the AP-7 motorway (Autopista del Mediterráneo).
- Travel Time: Around 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.
- Toll-Free: The AP-7 is now free of charge, making it the best option for a smooth and efficient drive.
By Train (AVE - High-Speed Train)
The AVE (Alta Velocidad Española) high-speed train is the fastest public transport option. This train connects Barcelona-Sants and Figueres-Vilafant with multiple daily departures. On the picture below you will be able to find the main train times:
- Departure Station: Barcelona-Sants
- Arrival Station: Figueres-Vilafant (AVE/TGV station)
- Duration: Approximately 55 minutes
- Frequency: Multiple daily departures

These AVE services also connect with Girona and international destinations such as Marseille and Lyon.
By Bus
There are regional bus services from Barcelona to Figueres, but the journey takes longer than the train. Buses generally depart from the Barcelona Nord Bus Station, and the trip can take around 2 to 3 hours.

How to Get from Figueres Train Station to the Venue
If you are arriving in Figueres by train, reaching the venue in the city center is quick and easy.
By Bus
- From Figueres-Vilafant AVE/TGV Station, take the shuttle bus ("Llançadora TAV") to the city center.
- Get off at: Plaza el Sol – this is the closest stop to the venue.
- Journey Time: Approximately 10 minutes.
- Tickets: You can purchase tickets directly from the driver.
By Taxi
- Taxis are available outside both train stations (Figueres-Vilafant and Figueres city station).
- Journey Time: Around 5–7 minutes.
- Estimated Cost: €7–€10.
On Foot (from Figueres City Station)
If you arrive at Figueres city train station (not AVE), you can walk to the venue in about 10–15 minutes.
