Salvador Dalí's Birthplace: Monturiol nº6

In this modernist building from 1898, designed by architect Josep Azemar, the famous painter Salvador Dalí i Domènech was born on May 11, 1904.

The Dalí family lived on the mezzanine floor of this property located at Carrer de Monturiol, no. 6 (today no. 20), where the painter's father, Salvador Dalí Cusí, had his notary's office on the first floor. Here, where it all began, in the Salvador Dalí Birthplace, you will find a unique space in the world to meet the artist and understand all his work.

Sant Pere Church: Sant Pere nº8.

The oldest preserved remains date from the X-XI centuries. At the end of the 14th century, King Peter the Ceremonious ordered the construction of a new church in Figueres, and over the Romanesque building was erected the Gothic style temple with a single nave. At present it persists in its original form up to where the apse began.

Civil War Refuge:

The shelter in Plaça del Grao, like others known in Figueres, is the result of the population protection measures promoted by the Passive Defense Board of Catalonia (JDPC). These constructions are a direct consequence of the new method of warfare introduced during the Spanish Civil War: the systematic aerial bombardment of population centers in the rearguard.
